The Buran Ghati Trek is a beautiful Himalayan adventure through the remote landscapes of Himachal Pradesh. Starting from the scenic village of Janglik, the trail takes you through dense oak and pine forests, vast alpine meadows, streams, snow-covered landscapes and high-altitude mountain terrain.

The trek offers a rewarding combination of natural beauty and adventure, with highlights including the peaceful Chandranahan Lake, dramatic Rupin Valley views and panoramic Himalayan landscapes. As the trail gains altitude, the terrain becomes more challenging, leading towards the spectacular Buran Ghati Pass at around 15,000 ft.

The pass crossing features steep climbs and snow-covered sections before the trail gradually descends towards greener valleys, juniper-covered slopes and traditional settlements. The journey concludes at Barua, where trekkers can experience the local Himalayan surroundings and village culture.

Itinerary

    • Begin your journey from Shimla and drive towards Diude.
    • Enjoy scenic views of the Pabbar River and surrounding Himalayan landscapes.
    • Continue through Tikri and Chirgaon before joining the rugged mountain road.
    • Travel along the unpaved route towards Diude with beautiful valley views.
    • Cross the Pabbar River and continue towards the trekking base.
    • Reach Diude and prepare for the trek towards Janglik.
    • End the day with dinner and a relaxing campfire experience.

    • Start the trek from Janglik and gradually climb through the forest.
    • Walk through oak and pine forests before entering open alpine meadows.
    • Enjoy a gentle descent through the grasslands and reach scenic viewpoints.
    • Admire panoramic views of Janglik, Tonglu and nearby settlements.
    • Continue through dense woodland and varied Himalayan vegetation.
    • Cross expansive meadows that offer excellent opportunities to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
    • Complete the final ascent and reach the beautiful Dayara Meadows.
    • Set up camp and spend the evening surrounded by the Himalayan landscape.

    • Leave Dayara Meadows and descend gradually through scenic forest trails.

    • Descend towards the Chandranahan stream and cross the flowing water.
    • Follow the trail further into the remote Himalayan valley.
    • Reach Litham Camp and settle in for the night.

    • Begin the day early for the excursion towards Chandranahan Lake.
    • Cross the stream near Litham and follow the shepherds' trail upstream.
    • Trek towards the waterfall and the source of the Chandranahan stream.

    • Reach Chandranahan Lake, a beautiful glacial water body nestled in the high Himalayas.
    • Spend some time taking in the peaceful surroundings before starting the return trek.
    • Trek back to Litham and conclude the day at the campsite.

    • Begin the day's trek with an ascent towards Gunas Pass.
    • Climb steadily for around two hours to reach the pass at approximately 13,000 ft.
    • Enjoy magnificent views of snow-covered mountains and high-altitude landscapes.
    • Look back towards the green meadows of Litham and the dramatic Rupin Valley cliffs.
    • Continue along the trail as Buran Ghati gradually comes into view.
    • Enter the U-shaped valley and follow the traditional shepherds' route towards Dhundi.
    • Continue for another stretch before reaching Nalabansh Ridge.
    • Set up camp in the alpine surroundings with snow-covered mountains forming the backdrop.

    • Start early for the most challenging section of the trek.
    • Ascend towards Buran Ghati Pass at approximately 15,000 ft.
    • Tackle the steep climb while enjoying spectacular high-altitude views.
    • Begin the descent across the snow-covered section below the pass.
    • Carefully navigate the steep snowfield and rugged terrain.
    • Continue descending and lose significant altitude over the next few hours.
    • Enter greener landscapes with juniper-covered slopes and mountain vegetation.
    • Pass small farmers' huts near the stream before reaching the campsite.
    • Spend the night beside the stream and recover after the demanding pass crossing

    • Begin the final trek through high-altitude pine and juniper-covered terrain.
    • Follow the trail alongside a large mountain stream.
    • Gradually descend through landscapes featuring apple orchards and signs of local habitation.
    • Cross the bridge leading towards the Barua settlement.
    • Enter Barua village and continue along the steep descending trail.
    • Reach the village centre after approximately 30 minutes of descent.
    • Conclude the trek at the Barua Khud road bridge.
    • Interact with local villagers and experience the culture of the Himalayan region.
    • From the road, continue towards better transport connections for onward travel to Shimla via Sangla or Reckong Peo.

Terms And Conditions - Buran Ghati Trek 7D/6N

  • To organize a trip we need at least 10/12 participants.
  • If the minimum number of bookings is not met, we will offer an alternate trip or no refund.
  • We have designated pick-up and drop points; make your own transport arrangements to the desired pick-up point accordingly.
  • Namma Trip is not responsible if any injuries or accidents occur during the event.
  • Any client consuming alcohol, misbehaving, or causing delay during the event will be terminated from the event without any prior warning and no refund will be given. Such clients should arrange their own transport on the way back, Nammatrip does not hold responsibility of terminated clients.
  • Littering, smoking & consumption of alcohol are banned outdoors or anytime during the trek. We will provide you with a time and place to enjoy your drinks.
  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and, in such cases, we will try to provide an alternate feasible activity. However, no refund will be provided for the same.
  • If we cancel the event, we offer a full refund to all the participants.
  • Our facilities are neat and basic, not luxurious
  • Tickets once booked cannot be exchanged or refunded.
  • We recommend that you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the venue.

  • 0–15 days prior: No refund; 100% of the cost will be charged.
  • 15–30 days prior: 50% refund of the trek cost.
  • Refunds will be processed within 5–7 working days.
  • No refunds for cancellations due to unforeseen conditions or government restrictions

  • Please contact the tour operator or driver for queries related to boarding points or vehicles.
  • Arrive at your designated pick-up point at least 20 minutes before departure time.
  • Kindly cooperate with the tour operator in case of delays due to unforeseen circumstances like traffic.
  • Once your booking is confirmed, we will add you to a WhatsApp group on the departure date around 6 PM, where we will share all necessary updates and information related to the trek.
  • If any tourist spots are closed due to strikes, weather, or other unforeseen factors, those will not be covered in the sightseeing.
