Kuari Pass Trek 

The Kuari Pass Trek is a spectacular Himalayan adventure through dense forests, alpine meadows, snow-covered trails, and breathtaking mountain landscapes. Known as the “Curzon Trail,” the trek offers stunning views of some of the most famous peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas.

Starting from Rishikesh, the journey takes you through Joshimath, Dhak, Gulling, Tali Forest, Kuari Pass, Gorson Bugyal, and Auli before returning to Joshimath and Rishikesh.

Itinerary

    Depart from Bangalore

    • Pickup: Assemble at Rishikesh Railway Station by 7:00 AM and begin the journey towards Joshimath.
    • Scenic Drive: Travel along the beautiful Badrinath Highway, following the winding Himalayan roads.
    • Travel Time: Approximately 10 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions.
    • River Views: Enjoy spectacular views of the Himalayan valleys and the rushing rivers accompanying you along the route.
    • Panch Prayag: Pass through the five sacred confluences—Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Nandaprayag, and Vishnuprayag.
    • Arrival at Joshimath: Reach Joshimath by evening, check in, relax, and prepare for the upcoming Kuari Pass adventure.
    • Stay: Overnight stay in Joshimath.
    • Meals: Dinner included.

    • Morning: After breakfast, leave Joshimath and drive towards Dhak Village, the starting point of today’s trek.
    • Drive to Dhak: Cover approximately 12 km by taxi/shared vehicle, taking around 30–45 minutes.
    • Trek Begins: From Dhak, start walking through scenic mountain trails towards Gulling.
    • Trail Distance: Approximately 6 km of gradual uphill trekking.
    • Trek Duration: Around 4–5 hours, depending on the group’s pace and trail conditions.
    • Nature & Views: Walk through beautiful Himalayan forests while enjoying views of dramatic valleys, surrounding peaks, and traditional mountain landscapes.
    • Gulling Camp: Reach the campsite near Gulling, unwind after the trek, and soak in the peaceful Himalayan surroundings.
    • Stay: Overnight camping at Gulling.
    • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

    Through Rhododendron Forests to Tali

    • Early Morning: Wake up, have breakfast, and get ready for another beautiful day on the Kuari Pass trail.
    • Trek Distance: Approximately 5.5 km.
    • Trek Duration: Around 5 hours, depending on the group’s pace and trail conditions.
    • Altitude: Reach approximately 3,350 m (11,000 ft).

    Into the Forests

    • Begin with a gentle and steady climb along scenic mountain slopes.
    • After about 20 minutes, reach an open meadow offering beautiful views of the snow-covered Himalayan peaks.
    • Take a short break to relax and capture the stunning surroundings.
    • Continue towards the forest, crossing a small stream along the way.
    • Enter a beautiful mixed forest filled with rhododendron, oak, and walnut trees.
    • During spring, the blooming rhododendrons add vibrant colours to the trail, while winter can transform the forest into a snowy wonderland.

    Mountain Views & Camp

    • Keep an eye out for spectacular views of the Hathi-Ghori peaks and Dronagiri along the route.
    • Continue through the peaceful forest trail until you reach Tali Forest Camp.
    • Settle into the campsite, relax, and enjoy the serene Himalayan atmosphere.
    • Stay: Overnight camping at Tali Forest Camp.
    • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

    The Big Summit Day

    • Altitude: Approximately 3,800 m (12,500 ft)
    • Distance: Around 7–10 km
    • Trek Duration: 5–6 hours for the main trail, with the overall summit day potentially taking 10–11 hours depending on group pace and conditions.

    Ascent Towards Kuari Pass

    • Start early from Tali Forest Camp after breakfast and begin the climb towards Khullara and Kuari Pass.
    • Follow a steady uphill trail for around 3.5 km, gradually gaining altitude.
    • Depending on the season, you may encounter snow-covered sections, frozen streams, and challenging trail crossings.
    • Continue along the ridge towards Jhandi Dhar, one of the prominent points on the route.
    • Take a well-deserved break and enjoy the spectacular Himalayan surroundings.
    • Carry a packed lunch to enjoy during the trek or near the base of Kuari Pass.

    Kuari Pass Summit

    • Continue the final ascent towards Kuari Pass, staying hydrated throughout the climb.
    • There are limited or no reliable water sources on the summit section, so carry sufficient water before starting.
    • At the pass, enjoy panoramic views of some of the most impressive peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas, including:

      • Kamet & Abhi Gamin

    Trek Essentials

    • Ensure your trekking shoes are properly tightened before beginning the ascent.

    • Gaiters can be arranged in Joshimath if needed, depending on trail conditions.
    • After soaking in the incredible summit views, begin the descent as per the trek team's instructions.

    Meadows, Snow & Auli

    • Morning: Begin the day after breakfast and get ready for the final stretch of your Kuari Pass adventure.
    • Trek to Gorson Bugyal: Walk through beautiful Himalayan landscapes, with snow-covered valleys and wide-open mountain trails.
    • Gorson Bugyal: Explore the vast alpine meadows of Gorson, surrounded by spectacular Himalayan peaks. During winter, the meadows can transform into a magical snowy landscape.
    • Continue to Auli: Descend towards Auli, renowned for its scenic slopes and winter skiing.
    • Optional Experience: During the winter season, you may enjoy skiing in Auli, subject to availability and local conditions.
    • Cable Car: From Auli, enjoy a scenic cable-car ride towards Joshimath, offering sweeping views of pine forests, mountain slopes, and the surrounding valleys, subject to operation and weather conditions.
    • Arrival: Reach Joshimath, situated at approximately 2,050 m (6,750 ft).
    • Trip Ends: Check out and continue your onward journey with unforgettable memories from the Kuari Pass Trek.

    Journey Back to Rishikesh

    • Early Morning: Start the return journey from Joshimath at around 6:00 AM after breakfast.
    • Drive Duration: Approximately 14 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
    • Scenic Route: Travel through the winding Himalayan roads, passing beautiful valleys, forests, rivers, and mountain villages.
    • Himalayan Views: Enjoy the changing landscapes as the high mountains gradually give way to the lower Himalayan valleys.
    • River Journey: Spot the rushing Himalayan rivers flowing alongside the route and enjoy the peaceful mountain scenery.
    • Arrival: Reach Rishikesh around 8:00 PM, marking the end of your Kuari Pass adventure.

Terms And Conditions - Kuari Pass Trek 6D/5N

  • To organize a trip we need at least 10/12 participants.
  • If the minimum number of bookings is not met, we will offer an alternate trip or no refund.
  • We have designated pick-up and drop points, make your own arrangements of transport to the desired pick-up point accordingly.
  • Namma Trip is not responsible if any injuries or accidents occur during the event.
  • Any client consuming alcohol, misbehaving, or causing delay during the event will be terminated from the event without any prior warning and no refund will be given. Such clients should arrange their own transport on the way back, Nammatrip does not hold the responsibility of terminated clients.
  • Littering, smoking & consumption of alcohol are banned outdoors or anytime during the trek. We will provide you with a time and place to enjoy your drinks.
  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and, in such cases, we will try to provide an alternate feasible activity. However, no refund will be provided for the same.
  • If we cancel the event, we offer a full refund to all the participants.
  • Our facilities are neat and basic, not luxurious
  • Tickets once booked cannot be exchanged or refunded.
  • We recommend that you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the venue.

Cancellation Policy - Kuari Pass Trek 6D/5N

  • 0–15 days prior: No refund; 100% of the cost will be charged.
  • 15–30 days prior: 50% refund of the trek cost.
  • Refunds will be processed within 5–7 working days.
  • No refunds for cancellations due to unforeseen conditions or government restrictions

Important Notes - Kuari Pass Trek 6D/5N

  • Please contact the tour operator or driver for queries related to boarding points or vehicles.
  • Arrive at your designated pick-up point at least 20 minutes before departure time.
  • Kindly cooperate with the tour operator in case of delays due to unforeseen circumstances like traffic.
  • Once your booking is confirmed, we will add you to a WhatsApp group on the departure date around 6 PM, where we will share all necessary updates and information related to the trek.
  • If any tourist spots are closed due to strikes, weather, or other unforeseen factors, those will not be covered in the sightseeing.
