Kumaon, UttarakhandPindari Glacier Trek Overview
The Pindari Glacier Trek is one of the classic Himalayan adventures in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The trail follows the Pindar Valley through dense forests, traditional mountain villages, river crossings, alpine landscapes and high-altitude terrain before reaching Zero Point, offering spectacular views of the Pindari Glacier and surrounding Himalayan peaks.
Starting from the Loharkhet/Kharkiya region, the route passes through Dhakuri, Khati, Dwali and Phurkia before reaching the glacier. Khati is known as the last major inhabited village on the trail, while Dwali marks the confluence of the Pindar and Kafni valleys.
The trek combines scenic forest walks, mountain streams, meadows, rugged alpine terrain and an exciting final approach to Zero Point. With its long Himalayan trail and gradual altitude gain, Pindari Glacier is generally considered a moderate trek, requiring good stamina and preparation.
